This is a photograph taken by Oscar Ruiz. This image appears to show three ballerinas or females getting ready. Ruiz has changed the photograph to create the appearance of a painting, to me this photo portrays beauty as the models are typically aesthetically beautiful due to their smooth skin and proportional body shapes. The photo gives an old feel and I think that this could be because of how lighting has been used and type of painting he's tried to transfer it into. Although, it also gives a modern twist to the old feel through the bright colours and how the models hair, make up and clothing look.
This is my image, where I have used antique looking props and clothing accessories to add an old feel to the photo, I did this because in my images I wanted to show the connection between how beauty would have been previously show through paintings as there were no camera equipment back then. I also added in a modern style through my model I had him pose in positions that are often used in modern beauty photography. Also I edited the images so that his skin was blemish free and had a smoother appearance as again it is a well used technique in modern beauty photography.
There are a couple of similarities between the two images, for example both have connections between modern beauty photography and past techniques for capturing beauty through paintings. However there are a few differences from one another, in my photographs I wanted it to feel masculine due to my model and the feel that paintings of men would have appeared to feel and Ruiz photography is brighter and has more of a feminine ambience and feel to it. I really like both images and think that both show beauty in interesting ways.
