Personal shoot 8- Work Diary

Studio set up-
For this shoot I intended on editing the images into a painting type style, this means that I would want a lot of props used within the set. I used a piano and then placed different props for example candelabras and wine bottles because these are usually seen in old paintings. For the lighting I used one light box on my right and natural lighting from the window on my left, I did this to allow the photo to be as naturally lighted as possible to add to the feel of the photos. I had the model stand practically in the same position throughout the shoot as this is what would have had been done when being painted, I then moved the camera, using different shot types to add difference to the photos. I wanted this shoot to show how beauty would have been captured before cameras were invented.

Camera set up-
For this shoot I used a Panasonic camera with a Lumix G Vario 12-32/F3.5-5.6 lens. I had the settings set at exposure 1//8 secs, F9 and ISO 1600.

Photoshop-
Firstly, I went through the usual settings such as curves and levels to get the image to the base that I felt would look best when fully edited.
Next I applied a blur onto the image. I did this because in paintings the quality wouldn't be dramatically clear, therefore I needed to create a slight amount of blurring. To blur the image I selected the filter tab at the top of the screen, then the blur tab.
I then need to apply a filter that created the appearance that the image is a painting. Therefore, I pressed filter on the tool bar at the top of the screen, next I pressed filter gallery. Once the new tab box appeared I experimented with different styles to see which I felt looked the most like paint brush strokes. I had decided upon using angled strokes with the direction balance at 50, the stroke length at 22 and sharpness at 3. I chose this because these measurements allowed the photo to distort enough for it to look less like a photograph and more like a hand painting without going overboard and too eccentric.
I am happy with what I have decided upon using in my editing stages for this shoot and think that the paint work style can be seen within my final images.
